La Liga’s giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have clearly dominated European football for the last few years. In this respect, UEFA have confirmed their approval by including many Madrid and Barcelona stars in their best players of the century so far.
UEFA’s line-up consists of six Spaniards, as well as the same number of Blaugrana’s footballers and three of Los Blancos’ past and present.
In the XI are Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, Philipp Lahm, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Steven Gerrard, Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi. The Portuguese forward has been part of UEFA’s team of the year 11 times, while Messi has secured a spot eight times, followed by Casillas, Puyol, Sergio Ramos and Iniesta (six times).
